Back in November, I finished my work at Nerd Corps and got a job at MPC Vancouver as a Jr. Lighting artist/Render Wrangler. I was primarily lighting shots in Maya using proprietary software, Alfred, and PRMan, but the possibility of some rendering could come up. After two months I got the opportunity to do some look development as well as lighting. I developed shaders for a flower and leaves for a shot on the upcoming show, "The Big Year". It was great to learn more about shading, and it gave me a chance to really understand how light works with the shaders. I'm currently working on the next Fast and the Furious movie, "Fast 5". Its proving somewhat difficult at times as we are dealing with metal and other reflective surfaces. I am now a Lighting TD, and the render wrangling position has been removed! I'm still learning a lot about the shaders we use at MPC, baked lighting using Point Clouds, shadow maps, etc. but its great to have more responsibility as I get better.

University of Victoria Vikings Logo Animation
I did a short animation for a Brudder Productions' promotional video for the University of Victoria. I was experimenting with Softimage's ICE system and also trying my hand at some lighting, texturing, and shading. Here's the animation:
You can head over to Brudder to check out the full promo video here! Message me if you would like to see a higher resolution version too.

Anirniq - Short film I worked on
I was asked to complete 4 VFX shots for this short film, which required animation, lighting, rendering, tracking, and compositing. I used Softimage for my 3D package, and Nuke to composite.
My first shot is at 1:45 where the man falls through the ice. I had to model, animate, and composite the breaking ice shards into the plate
The next three shots are all in succession, beginning at 2:30. I posed, lit, rendered, tracked, and animated the narwhal into all three of the whale shots. Below are screen shots of the original plates, and the final film as seen on Youtube.
