Demo Reel update
Well, my school year at Think Tank Training Centre is officially over, but my work isn't quite done. I'm currently compositing the two shots for my piece, as well as doing some final rendering. I'm looking at being finished the shot by early next week, and I will be updating the website with new videos and elements from the reel. Enjoy!
Another ICE tree for a particle cloud in my building explosion scene. This is a blast particle cloud representing building debris. I used ICE because I had already used hard body simulation on a part of the walls and floors of the building, but wanted to get a sort of chunky particle look, something like chunks of cement. One of the nodes I used that helped me get that effect was a Set Instance Geometry node, which allowed me to instance a few pieces of modeled geometry so I could get a look I wanted.
Here is the ICE tree for the floating ash debris. Nothing too complex in this one, but there are a few things I needed to get the effect I was going for. I really like the randomize direction node which dispersed the particles in a broad range, without me having to manipulate the geometry of the emitters. The Leaf Falling Motion node also gave a cool effect, making the particles feel like very light ash or paper.
I have finished a few of my ICE particle passes for my demo reel and thought I would post a couple of videos showing them. I will also post screen captures of the ICE trees to show which nodes I used to accomplish the effects I was going for. ICE has turned into a very useful tool for me, and I love working with it!
